Election 2024 Updated by Exit Polls
Pollsters are anticipating a massive win for Modi 3.0, with a few predicting a '400-plus' result for the NDA government
Exit polls are important in India's elections as they offer early predictions of results before the release of official results. Stringent regulations are applied to these polls to guarantee fairness and prevent any influence on voters. In the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, exit polls will be a significant area of interest for both political analysts and the general public, providing crucial predictions while following ethical guidelines.
Three surveys indicate that the NDA will secure over 400 seats. Nevertheless, the majority of forecasts have indicated approximately 350 seats for the NDA coalition. Multiple exit surveys are forecasting a significant increase in support for the BJP in the Southern and Eastern regions. According to certain exit polls, BJP is expected to win seats in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, but surprisingly, BJP is ahead of TMC in West Bengal, which comes as a shock to Mamata Banerjee.
After a lengthy Lok Sabha elections in 2024 that lasted six weeks, the second-longest general election since 1951-52, it is now time for Exit Polls. Five exit polls indicate a major win for the ruling BJP-led NDA: Republic Bharat-P Marq (359), India News-D-Dyanamics (371), Republic Bharat-Matrize (353-368), TV 5 Telugu (359), and Jan Ki Baat (362-392). Moreover, the exit polls predict NDA's strong influence in Karnataka and Maharashtra, as well as a significant victory in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, while indicating a defeat for the Left-led alliance in Kerala.
It is widely expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his political party, the BJP, will win a third consecutive term in office. At the same time, the Congress, facing electoral losses and several members switching sides, remains a key member of the Opposition group in INDIA, going up against the BJP.
During the 2019 elections, the BJP secured a win with 303 seats, while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) increased the total to 352. Meanwhile, the Congress secured 52 seats, while the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) amassed a total of 91.
This time around, the BJP has a lofty goal of achieving 370 seats and hopes to exceed the 400-seat mark with the help of its partners. The majority threshold in the Lower House of Parliament is 272 seats, with a total of 543 seats.
