PM Modi convenes important meeting with leading economists in preparation for Budget 2024

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in discussions with economists about necessary policy actions to enhance inclusive growth and create a medium-term plan for India to become the world's third-largest economy, ultimately leading to the goal of achieving a developed India by 2024. The discussion before the Union Budget 2024-25 focused on speeding up ways to quickly reduce poverty by controlling inflation, expanding welfare programs, and generating jobs through investments and training.

The gathering at Niti Aayog is important as the government is expected to outline the Modi government's plans for the next five years in the budget.

Modi stressed in the Rajya Sabha on July 3 that the government will increase and broaden the speed of reforms implemented in the past decade, resulting in higher levels of efficiency in providing essential services.

The Thursday meeting was joined by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, sectoral experts, economists, and senior officials. Sitharaman is set to unveil the budget for FY25 in Parliament on July 23.

Another individual stated that the Prime Minister would consider input from experts and economists to boost economic growth and implement social reforms. He mentioned that the goal is to improve the quality of life and increase the prosperity of citizens. He stated that the recommendations revolved around strengthening the fiscal position, maintaining public spending to enhance growth, promoting ease of living, and concentrating on farmers, women, youth, middle-class, and vulnerable individuals.

A third individual in the meeting suggested utilizing economic development as a means to address hunger and eliminate poverty.

Modi stated in the Rajya Sabha on July 3 that the upcoming five years will be crucial in the battle against poverty, and he expressed confidence that the country will triumph in this fight against poverty. I can confidently state this based on the past decade of experience.
