Sensex and Nifty closed slightly down as investors took profits before announcing important financial results.
Sensex and Nifty finished slightly lower on Thursday in a volatile session as investors took profits in major companies before releasing important financial results for the June quarter. After reaching a peak earlier, the 30-share BSE Sensex finished the day with a decrease of 27.43 points or 0.03% at 79,897.34.
The market index increased by 245.32 points to reach a peak of 80,170.09 during early trading but then experienced a slowdown because of selling pressure on leading index components. The NSE Nifty decreased by 8.50 points, equivalent to 0.03%, closing at 24,315.95.
