Project Himalaya- KPMG plans Senior management topup
Project Himalaya was announced last year and is expected to multiply the company's consulting business in India.
One of the 'Big Four' firms- KPMG is expanding sits senior leadership teams with its Project Himalaya becoming operational in the coming few months.
The Project was announced last year, and includes the merging of the delivery capabilities of consulting, risk and advisory practices in its US, UK and Indian units. The aim of this project is to expand the company's business in India and to unify the delivery capabilities of its different units.
The company is making changes in its organisation structure by creating new leadership roles and filling these positions by placing their existing partners. Currently, KPMG has around 600 partners and with such structural changes the number of job positions would almost double in the next 4-5 years.
In India, KPMG's strength is expected to increase from 20,000 to 50,000. And this increase will represent the company more equally with the other Big Four firms.
In the past few weeks, the company has hired professionals such as Hemant Jhajharia from BCG to head consulting and financial services. It has also brought on Manish Gupta from Unilever Singapore to lead technology consulting. It is also in talks to bring another professional from one of the Big Four firms to head its business consulting vertical.
Also, for its HR vertical, KPMG has hired Reena Wahi from Tatas and has decided to move its existing HR head- Sunit Sinha to HR consulting.
Together with this team, the company will decide and implement growth strategies which would be in line with its aggressive expansion plans.
