'I Won't Resign': Swati Maliwal Breaks Silence On Not Giving UP MP Seat Amid Assault Row

Amid the recent issue surrounding AAP MP Swati Maliwal's alleged assault at the Chief Minister's residence, the former head of the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) made it clear that she will not be giving up her Rajya Sabha seat just yet.

In an interview with ANI, Maliwal said that she was physically abused at the home of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by his close aide, Bibhav Kumar. She further stated that she would have resigned from the Rajya Sabha if the party had politely asked her to do so.

She went on to say that she would not step down if there was pressure from any authority to do so.

“If they needed my Rajya Sabha seat, they would have asked for it, I would have given my life, the MP seat is such a small thing. If you see my whole career I never showed any desire for any position,” Maliwal told ANI

“I gave up my engineering job to join these people in 2006 when no one used to know us. Only three people were there and I was one of them. I have been working since then. I have worked on the ground and have run all kinds of operations all these years. I would have resigned readily. I can work without any position. But the way they have beaten me, ‘ab chaahe duniya ki koi bhi shakti lag jaye main resign nahi karungi (I will not resign now at any cost),” the AAP leader asserted.

In the assault case, a Delhi court granted Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal's assistant, five days of prison questioning after his initial detention from the chief minister's home. The judge further stated that the police remand was a "necessity" in this case.

Assistant to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Kumar, is accused of beating AAP MP Swati Maliwal on May 13 at the CM's home.

After data from his phone, which he had reportedly formatted before his arrest, was discovered, Kumar was brought to Mumbai on Tuesday.

After transferring his phone's data to a person or device in Mumbai, police assumed Kumar formatted his phone.
