Vodafone Idea is currently engaged in talks with Samsung about fresh technologies such as virtualised Radio Access Network (vRAN) solutions for their 4G and 5G deployments. Over the past 12 to 18 months the companies have conducted network tests in Chennai.

Encouraged by the positive trial results and performance equalling that of existing suppliers, Vodafone Idea has expanded Samsung deployments to Karnataka and Bihar regions.

Vi's chief technical officer- Jagbir Singh, expressed pride in showcasing their leadership in vRAN technology, which aims to provide customers with an improved experience and a more cost-effective solution.

This vRAN deployment which was achieved through Samsung's innovation and collaborative technological strategies aligns with the company's technology transformation plan and diverse vendor ecosystem.

Vi also said that it would be collaborating with Samsung for their vRAN solutions and would utilize its cloud-based technology and integrate it with traditional RAN installations in order to launch 5G networks. This would enhance both performance and customer satisfaction.

Samsung's virtualized RAN solution will enable Vi to improve network management by offering increased flexibility, scalability, and resource efficiency.

Moreover, the telecom company is in talks with Ericsson Nokia and Mavenir about expanding its 4G network and launching 5G nationwide.
