'Minister outlines actions amid Delhi Airport disruptions, all flights transferred from Terminal 1; includes refund and fare stability measures.'

During heavy rain in Delhi on Friday, a canopy collapsed at the Terminal-1 departure area around 5 am, causing injuries to six people and causing the death of one person whose identity is still unknown. In addition to the roof sheet, the support beams also fell, causing harm to the cars in the pick-up and drop-off sections of the terminal.

Terminal 1 at Indira Gandhi International Airport is designated for domestic flights, and all domestic operations have been shifted to Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 until further notice.

The airport manages approximately 1,400 flight movements daily and is equipped with three terminals: T1, T2, and T3. Flight activities at Delhi Airport are currently functioning as usual, with operations taking place exclusively from Terminals 2 and 3. The latest notification from Delhi Airport stated that all flights originally departing from Terminal-1 will now be departing from Terminal-3 and Terminal-2.

The minister announced that individuals with canceled flights will have the option to receive a refund or book a different flight. The government plans to issue a circular for issuing refunds to citizens within a week and has instructed airlines not to raise air ticket prices.
The minister stated that a specialized team from the structural department of IIT Delhi has been summoned to create a preliminary inspection report, and appropriate measures will be taken accordingly.

Delhi Airport is assisting all the families of the individuals. Delhi Airport stated that they have declared a payment of Rs.20 Lakh to the relatives of the deceased, and Rs.3 Lakh to each of the injured.
