Adani Group's solar company requests visas for Chinese workers of suppliers
The company emphasizes the need for Indian skills
Adani Group's solar manufacturing sector has requested permission from the Union government to bring in nearly 30 engineers from China. These engineers can assist in creating a strong and locally sourced supply chain for solar equipment for the conglomerate involved in infrastructure and mining.
In its submissions, the company has listed eight foreign partners, all of them OEMs and supply chain vendors from China. As per the documents examined by Business Standard, the corporation brought in Chinese machinery totaling 591 crore during 2021-22 and 180 crore in 2022-23.
Mundra Solar Technology Ltd (MSTL), managed by Adani Solar, aims to establish 10 (Gw) of integrated solar manufacturing capacity by 2027.
The company plans to establish the factory in Kutch, Gujarat, with an investment of 25,114 crore, as per their communication with the government. MSTL is also a beneficiary under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme of the Centre. By the PLI scheme, 4 Gw of solar module manufacturing will be established. The manufacturing of its ingot, wafer, and cell components for solar modules/panels is not under the PLI scheme.
