'I draw inspiration, comfort from my Hindu faith' : UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak leading up to crucial general elections
During the last weekend of the general election campaign, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke at London's BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, emphasizing how his Hindu faith inspires and supports him.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty sought blessings at the famous BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in London, also known as Neasden Temple, on the last weekend before the July 4 general election.
As the couple arrived at the temple grounds on Saturday evening, they received a warm welcome from the congregation. Under the guidance of the priests, they took part in a puja ritual.
Following a visit to the grand temple complex and interacting with volunteers and important community figures, Sunak began his speech by acknowledging India's recent victory in the T20 World Cup, showcasing his passion for cricket.
Speaking to the crowd at London's famous BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir during the final weekend of the general election campaign, the British Prime Minister, joined by his wife Akshata Murty, expressed, "As a Hindu, I, like all of you, find inspiration and solace in my faith."
He further stated, "Being sworn in as a Member of Parliament on the 'Bhagavad Gita' made me feel proud." In our faith, we are encouraged to fulfill our responsibilities without worrying about the result as long as we do so with dedication.
During his speech, the UK PM also participated in a friendly conversation with the audience. He mentioned the cricket results in his address during India's huge win at the T20 World Cup 2024. "Is everyone pleased with the cricket?" he inquired, eliciting cheers and applause from the crowd.
