Open AI releases ChatGPT app for Apple Mac

OpenAI launched the ChatGPT desktop app for macOS computers running on Apple silicon, featuring enhanced integration with the operating system. 

OpenAI confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Mac users can now access ChatGPT faster to discuss topics like email, screenshots, and items on their screen using the Option + Space shortcut.

Last month, the AI startup supported by Microsoft introduced a specialized ChatGPT app for Macs during an event where they showcased their GPT-4o model.

Using the new design, the AI chatbot on the application gains the ability to reason through audio, visual and text.

Specialized ChatGPT application for macOS provides enhanced connectivity with the device, particularly utilizing the keyboard shortcut (Option+Space) to initiate a chat with the AI-powered chatbot.

Furthermore, by utilizing this shortcut that enables a ChatGPT conversation to appear in a pop-up window, individuals have the ability to capture screenshots directly and inquire about them.

Additional highlights on the desktop application include the ability to drag an image into a chat to inquire about the image.

The ChatGPT desktop application also permits the simultaneous uploading of multiple files for analysis, summarization and content generation using the provided data.
