PM Modi opens Nalanda university campus, asserts that knowledge cannot be destroyed even if books are burned.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the opening of Nalanda University's campus near the historic ruins marked the start of a prosperous period for India, showcasing the nation's capacity to revive its magnificent past.

“The books can be destroyed in flames, but not knowledge. A country that protects its human values knows how to recreate its history,” he mentioned while opening the extensive 455-acre advanced campus of the university. He expressed his luck to be at Nalanda just 10 days into his third term and saw it as a positive sign.

Modi previously toured the remains of the historic Nalanda University, which was demolished by Bakhtiar Khilji. The new Nalanda University was envisioned as a symbol of Asian rebirth and the representation of an enlightened Asia.
The event was attended by Bihar governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, chief minister Nitish Kumar, external affairs minister S Jaishankar, deputy Pavitra Margherita, heads of mission from 17 countries, chancellor Arvind Pangarhiya, and vice chancellor Abhay Kunar Singh.

Modi stated that Nalanda represented more than just a name; it symbolized an identity, esteem, philosophy, and an insight into India's vast potential. "It represented both the Asian and worldwide legacy on the campus." He also mentioned that the modern Nalanda project has attracted participation from numerous countries and aims to become a hub of knowledge similar to the original institution.

During the event, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed gratitude to Modi for expediting the development work at the Nalanda University campus and encouraged him to continue advancing it. He mentioned that the Bihar government will take care of anything else that the state government still needs to accomplish.

Nalanda was a meeting point for the cross-cultural influences from South Asia and East Asia. It encouraged a conversation between civilizations and promoted inter-faith comprehension of religious exploration within the wider scope of civilizational awareness. It symbolized the shared aspects of Asian culture and beliefs. The new establishment aims to replicate influential negotiation by uniting diverse interests in the Asia Pacific area.
