Stock Market Highlights | 25th June

The stock market's benchmark indices started Tuesday's trading session on a positive note:  

In the opening trade, the NSE Nifty 50 increased by 39.25 points or 0.17% to 23,577.10, and the BSE Sensex rose by 188.11 points or 0.24% to 77,529.19. The larger benchmarks started trading with a mix of gains and losses. Bank Nifty index starts the day with a slight increase of 55.50 points or 0.11%, closing at 51,759.45.

Tuesday's trading session concluded with the benchmark equity indices finishing in the positive zone: 

 The NSE Nifty 50 increased by 183.45 points or 0.78% to reach 23,721.30, and the BSE Sensex surged by 712.45 points or 0.92% to close at 78,053.53. The wider benchmarks closed with a mix of results, as Large-cap and Midcap stocks led the gains. The Bank Nifty index closed with a gain of 902.05 points or 1.74% at 52,606.

* Banking and financial services stocks performed better compared to other sector indices, while metal and real estate stocks declined.

SENSEX

Top Gainers: Axis Bank (up 3.40%), ICICI Bank (up 2.48%), HDFC Bank (up 2.32%), Tech Mahindra (up 1.80%), and Larsen & Toubro (up 1.56%).

Top Losers: Power Grid Corporation Of India (down 1.64%), Tata Steel (down 1.24%), Asian Paints (down 1.16%), Nestle India (down 0.56%), and Maruti Suzuki India (down 0.52%).

Nifty

Top Gainers: Shriram Finance (up 3.73%), Axis Bank (up 3.53%), ICICI Bank (up 2.38%), HDFC Bank (up 2.33%), and HDFC Life Insurance Company (up 1.98%).

Top Losers: Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 2.93%), Eicher Motors (down 1.97%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (down 1.67%), Asian Paints (down 1.30%), and Tata Steel (down 1.28%)
