Tata Sons to build ₹650 crore 'museum of temples' in Ayodhya

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet gave the green light on Tuesday to the proposal by Tata Sons to construct a 'museum of temples' in Ayodhya, with a budget of ₹650 crore.

Tourism Minister Jaivir Singh stated that the tourism department would offer the company land for an international-level museum on a 90-year lease for a nominal fee of ₹1.

Singh mentioned at a press conference that Tata Sons had suggested the project to the Central government, suggesting to construct the museum for ₹650 crore from its corporate social responsibility fund, after the cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

There has been discussion about creating a 'museum of temples' in Ayodhya since last year. In September, Adityanath and senior officials gave a presentation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the matter.

The temple museum idea was highly favoured by the prime minister and was extensively discussed.

The original plan was to exhibit the history and architecture of renowned temples in the nation. Additionally, the conversation included planning for a light-and-sound display at the future museum.

The State Cabinet also agreed to the proposal made by Tata Sons for carrying out all the development works.
