Afghanistan's first ever Semi-finals entry in T20 WC

Both South Africa and Afghanistan have the opportunity to make history in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal at Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago, as it will be the first final in any Cricket World Cup in both white-ball formats.

Afghanistan's journey to the World Cup semi-finals is very impressive for a team that has been steadily improving in this format, with New Zealand and Australia- both experienced world champions set to challenge them.

Meanwhile, South Africa hopes for their eighth attempt to be successful in the men's World Cup semi-final having lost all seven previous semifinals.

South Africa has a strong batting line-up, including attacking players up to number seven, along with a bowling attack that combines pace and guile, giving them confidence that 2024 will be their year.

The Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba is a stadium with a capacity of 15,000, and it is currently holding its fifth and last match of the tournament.

All four previous matches came in Group C during the first group stage. West Indies scored 149/9 against New Zealand, which was the highest total out of the four matches played at the venue.

South Africa has maintained an undefeated record in the tournament, although they have been tested in several of their seven matches.

Interesting games against England and West Indies were closely contested until South Africa emerged victorious in the final over.
