Sensex and Nifty 50 reach all-time highs; Bank Nifty surpasses 52,900 for the first time
The key stock market indexes started the trading session on Wednesday in a lackluster territory. In the opening trade, the NSE Nifty 50 increased by only 1.80 points or 0.01% to reach 23,723.10, while the BSE Sensex rose by 40.50 points or 0.05% to 78,094.03. The broader indices started trading with a mix of gains and losses. Bank Nifty index begins trading with a modest increase of 47.20 points or 0.09% to close at 52,653.20.
Wednesday's trading session concluded with the benchmark equity indices finishing in positive territory. The NSE Nifty 50 rose by 147.50 points, an increase of 0.62%, to close at 23,868.80, and the BSE Sensex surged by 620.72 points, up 0.80%, to reach 78,674.25. The wider measures finished with a mix of results, as Large-cap and Mid-cap stocks drove the gains. The Bank Nifty index concluded the day with a 0.50% increase of 264.50 points, closing at 52,870.50. Media and Energy sectors performed the best compared to other indices, while Metal and Realty sectors declined.
