Paytm partners with Skyscanner, Google Flights, and Wego.

One 97 Communications (OCL), the parent company of fintech firm Paytm, has collaborated with global travel aggregators Skyscanner, Google Flights, and Wego to expand its presence in the online travel industry.

According to a statement released on Monday, Paytm reported a 19% increase in total flight bookings in the March quarter, with the most recent collaborations coming after this surge. There was a 15% year-on-year increase in international flight bookings on the platform in April.

The most recent partnerships include Paytm collaborating with Samsung to enable booking flights, buses, movies, and event tickets through Samsung Wallet. By undertaking these initiatives, the company aims to broaden its sources of income in response to the Reserve Bank of India's restrictions on Paytm Payments Bank Ltd, which prevent the payments bank from taking in fresh deposits and offering banking services after March 15.

Paytm is making efforts to broaden its business operations. In 2023, it merged its new distribution capability (NDC) with international travel technology company Amadeus. The NDCx platform originally had Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways involved, but recently added Eva Airways. It provides AI-enhanced features, improving the booking process with personalized travel choices and deals sourced directly from airlines.

In addition, Paytm Travel has included three more international airlines: Cambodia Angkor Air, SalamAir, and FlyDubai. It has broadened its domestic offerings by teaming up with new bus companies like Mettur, to cater to customers in smaller urban areas. The company now offers a complimentary cancellation option for all its travel options, such as trains, buses, and flights.
