The market fails to maintain an all-time high and closes with mixed results; banks show strong performance
Wednesday's trading session started with the benchmark equity indices reaching an all-time high. The NSE Nifty 50 started trading at a 0.13% increase of 30.35 points at 23,558.25, and the BSE Sensex started at a 0.13% rise of 102.02 points at 77,403.16. The larger indicators started the day with gains. The Bank Nifty index started the day up 41.35 points, or 0.08%, at 50,482.25.
The major stock market indexes finished Wednesday's trading day with different outcomes. The NSE Nifty 50 decreased by 41.90 points, settling at 23,516, while the BSE Sensex increased slightly by 36.46 points, reaching 77,337.60. Small-cap and Mid-cap stocks led to a decline in the broader indices, which ended in negative territory.
The Bank Nifty index increased by 957.15 points or 1.90% to close at 51,398.05.
*Banking and Financial Services showed the best performance compared to other sectoral indices, while Realty and Energy stocks declined.
