Sensex and Nifty close unchanged; Nifty Bank drops by almost 1%, while FMCG and pharma stocks show gains.
Friday's trading session started with the benchmark equity indices showing a negative performance. The NSE Nifty 50 began trading 88.80 points (0.37%) down at 24,213.35, and the BSE Sensex started 270.69 points (0.34%) lower at 79,778.98. The wider stock market measures began the day with gains. The Bank Nifty index decreased by 543.60 points or 1.02% to start trading at 52,560.10.
Friday's trading session concluded with benchmark equity indices showing a mix of results. The NSE Nifty 50 rose by 21.70 points or 0.09% to close at 24,323.10, whereas the BSE Sensex fell by 53.07 points or 0.07% to 79,996.60. The wider benchmarks finished with a mix of results, as Large-cap and Mid-cap stocks led the way in gains. The Bank Nifty index closed down 443.35 points or 0.83% at a final value of 52,660.35. Energy and Pharma sectors performed better compared to other sectors, while Financial Services and Banking sectors declined.
